Dreamy foot reflexology massage at Villa Kubu
We recently stayed at the gorgeous Villa Kubu in Seminyak where I had the most soothing foot reflexology massage. Bali foot massage and Balinese traditional massages are famous in Bali and the one I had at Spa Venus at Villa Kubu was the best I have ever experienced.
When we arrived at Kubu, we were offered a complimentary massage and I chose the reflexology. I was keen to have this relaxing foot massage. The best thing about Bali and particularly Villa Kubu, apart from the beautiful weather of course, is that you can choose to have spa treatments in your private pool villa or at Spa Venus, which is on site. This is a huge bonus as I really enjoy a massage or Manicure/pedicure where I can be in the privacy and peace of my own home and no disturbances. Kubu villas are unique; ours had a gorgeous swimming pool, walled tropical gardens and a lovely traditional villa. You really never want to leave; it’s so tranquil and relaxing.
I had booked one of Kubu’s famous reflexology treatments. Reflexi is not only good for tired feet but also promotes healing by stimulating the nerves in the body and encouraging the flow of blood. This healing art of ancient origin is believed to be traced back to pre Dynastic China and to ancient Indian medicine. Reflexologists work from maps of predefined pressure points that are located on the hands and feet. These pressure points connect directly through the nervous system and affect the bodily organs and glands. By manipulating the pressure points according to specific techniques of reflexology therapy, any part of the body that is the source of pain, illness, or potential debility can be strengthened.
Our wonderful Balinese spa therapist arrived and ensured I was settled on a comfy day bed overlooking the pool, just enough in the shade but also able to enjoy the soporific heat and pool views. I ordered a delicious ginger tea and began to relax.
Firstly my feet were bathed in a customary bronze basin filled with warm organic sea salted water and rose petals; this felt totally sensational.
They then cleansed my feet with lavender soap, apparently the health benefits of lavender include its ability to eliminate nervous tension, relieve pain, disinfect the skin and enhance blood circulation. Perfect for blackened, dirty, dusty feet.
This was followed by a traditional reflexology massage using Jasmine foot cream. The scent of jasmine promotes a sense of well being and calm. Each part of my foot was massaged with different pressures on certain pressure points, you can choose whether to have a deep strong massage of something lighter. Within seconds I was lulled off into a dreamy sleep, soothed by the healing hands of our trained therapist.
Finally my refreshed feet were massaged with Ylang Ylang oil which has a sweet floral scent. Ylang ylang (Cananga odorata) essential oil comes from flower petals of the large, tropical ylang ylang tree and means “flower of flowers”. In fact, ylang ylang oil is one of the key ingredients used in the legendary perfume Chanel No. 5 so I was in good company.
I highly recommend this dreamy relaxing and soothing reflexology treatment at one of Bali’s best villa hotels hidden in the heart of Seminyak. Go to www.kubuvillasseminyak.com to stay or visit spavenusbali to review the selection of treatments the in house spa has to offer.
